Route 6 May Be Named for War Heroes from Peru

Peru – Part of Route 6 from Spring Valley to Peru may be named for 6 brothers from LaSalle County to serve in World War 2.  The legislation passed the Illinois Senate yesterday, and now heads to the house, and if passed there, Route 6 from Mary Street in Spring Valley to Harrison Street in Peru would be known as the “Kaszynski Brothers Memorial Highway.”  Five of the six brothers served in the Army, and one in the Merchant Marines.  Senator Sue Rezin, who sponsored the legislation, said “it is not only a unique story, but it deserves special rcognition”
One of the brothers, Alex Jr, was seriously wounded in the Phillipines and was awarded the Purple Heart.
