MORRIS – A California man is charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding after a traffic incident in Morris on Saturday. According to the Morris Police Department, just before 9 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle near North Division Street and Mall Drive for an equipment violation, however, the vehicle failed to stop. Police say the vehicle then traveled on and off of the interstate, attempting to flee the police, until Morris terminated the incident in Seneca. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department ultimately located the vehicle at the Flying J Truck Stop in LaSalle, where the driver had run out of gas. The suspect 61-year-old Randy DelaCruz was arrested with charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and multiple equipment/traffic violations.
Police say DelaCruz had a warrant out of Kansas for Probation Violation with an original homicide charge. He was held pending extradition.
