IVCH “Making My Wishes Known” Advance Directives Program

April 19, 2018

Advance directives and their role in end-of-life decision making will be the subject of a free public program Thursday evening, April 19, in the Illinois Valley Community Hospital room at Peru Mall.

“Making My Wishes Known” is the title of the program to be presented at 6:00 p.m. by Dawn Moutray, IVCH social service director, and Dr. Mark Fernandez, Illinois Valley Hospice medical director.

Advance directives are written statements about how an individual wants medical decisions made when he or she is no longer able to make them.  Living wills, durable power of attorney for health care, do-not-resuscitate orders and the declaration for mental health treatment are the most common advance directives.
